Bibliographic Services Librarian in Baltimore, Maryland

Salary: $40,000 - $45,000

Goucher College seeks a creative, energetic, and flexible individual to work as Bibliographic Services Librarian in the Julia Rogers Library. With primary responsibility for the integrity of the data in the online catalog, this position plays a critical role in the discovery and identification of the library’s wealth of resources. The incumbent will apply bibliographic standards and guidelines to support access to a collection in multiple formats, with increasing emphasis on electronically accessible materials. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to enhancing services through teamwork and responsiveness to all library customers.

As a member of the technical services team, s/he will, under the leadership of the Collection Management Librarian, establish and revise local policies and procedures, guide and support the cataloging activities of technical staff, and serve as the lead specialist for digital archival and repository initiatives. The successful candidate will join a progressive, congenial staff as it plans a new, multi-function college library building and develops an expanded model for library technical services. As part of the professional staff, this librarian will participate in library decision-making activities, contribute to reference and information service (including some evening and weekend hours), and serve as liaison to selected academic departments.

Requirements:

ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library or information science

Knowledge of cataloging rules, standards and practices

Effective oral and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Reading knowledge of at least one Western European foreign language

Required Education: Masters
